I’ve hardly done a thing for almost two weeks.

I have a to-do list for business, it’s quite long. Everything on it is essential, and I do actually want to do them, but I can’t be bothered.

I think I need to ponder things over while eating chocolate.

Things to ponder over

Back from Cornwall

Mevagissey, to be exact My second home, lol. I can’t think of a more perfect place to live. We had great weather, though there were a couple of foggy nights. The first pic is the inner harbour, the second is the lighthouse at the end of the outer harbour.

We spent the first night in Looe. We thought we’d buy chips and wander down to the beach in the evening, it’ll be nice and quiet, right? Wrong!!! We found ourselves in the middle of a MUSIC FESTIVAL so we walked over to the bar and bought beer. Well, it would’ve been rude not to join in, wouldn’t it?!

We’ve seen dolphins and seals before (in Newquay and St Ives) but this year we saw basking sharks, it was great to see them in the wild. Unfortunately we didn’t manage to get any photos We tried but their fins are in and out of the water so fast it’s almost impossible to get a picture. You’ll have to make do with a couple of starfish and a hermit crab we found in the rock pools in Charlestown!

Broken camera?

My camera stopped working a while ago. I turned it on, the lens wouldn’t open and it turned itself off. I thought it was just the batteries so I swapped them, but still nothing.

I was searching on the internet for repair costs – my camera is only a cheapie and it costs more just for them to look at it (there’s always a minimum charge) than a new camera would cost!! I was about to give up and buy a new one when I found this CAMERA REPAIR blog. Solution 1a worked for me.

Now I just have to work out how to turn the flash off, lol. It’s stuck on, and no amount of turning it off will stop it from working

I can’t believe it’s September already.

The dusty work has finished – at last – so I’ve been brave enough to open the boxes and drawers and get on with handmade things. Here’s a pic of the A5 notebooks (click for a larger image) -

I’ve made matching A6 and matchbook notebooks, and calendars.

I’ve used quite thin card for the covers, I’d like to use thick card and paper but that’ll put the price up quite a bit. I’m charging £2 for the A5 size, there’s 50 unlined pages. I’ll see how they sell and wait for customer feedback.

We’ve been harvesting potatoes and tomatoes, here a couple of pics -

More toys

I’ve bought a WIRE BINDER and I’ve had great fun playing with it. It took me a while to get used to it – my first attempt produced a wonky notebook – but I’ve since attempted three calendars and they’re all perfectly straight! I’m waiting for a stationery delivery so in the meantime I’ll make mini notepads with the new stapler.

My cards were in a shop a while ago, the owner retired and closed the shop so I brought home the ones that didn’t sell. They’d used a pricing gun on the cello bags and ripped the price stickers off quickly, they’ve all been left with a sticky patch on them. I wish they’d left them on, the stickers will come off cleanly if you remove them slowly. I hope WD40 will clean them up, if not then I’ll have to re-package them all *sigh*.

I want to post pictures. Pictures of what I’m using during the Frugal Frump challenge – SEE HERE – pictures of the animals, the garden, the kitchen and most importantly, my crafts. I had a camera which took great photos, but it died. So I started using another camera which I couldn’t get on with at all, the photos were a bit blurry but I thought it’d do. That one’s died too, gggrrrrr. My daughter has a cheap camera from Argos, I was suprised at how well the photos turned out so I’ll buy one for myself.

I’ve found a local stationery supplier PROACTIVE BUSINESS SUPPLIES and I put my first order in on monday – a heavy duty stapler, so now I can get on with making matchbook notepads that are thicker than 15 pages. They delivered on tuesday and included a free Nestle selection pack full of mini smarties, fruit pastilles, aeros and milky bar buttons. That’s me happy for a few days!

The painting is almost done. Can’t wait to get back to normal, the house feels very cluttered at the moment.

………….with anything

There’s too many eggs and too much veg! We’ve sold some of the eggs and frozen some veg but there’s so much of them. Course, if a certain someone didn’t keep buying rubbish processed food, I’d have more freezer space

We’ve started painting the hall, stairs and landing. I say we, what I mean is I’ve done a bit and he’s done a lot, lol. The watered-down first coat is on, we he can get on with the ‘proper’ coats now. He’s also been painting the woodwork, that was a pain because the stain kept seeping through the new white paint, even with primer on.

We were both off work last week. We visited Fairford (to watch the planes fly out), Axminster, West Bay and Weston-Super-Mare.

I’ve still been looking after me, though it was a bit rushed because we were out so much. I treated myself to some new make-up, and bought a 200ml tub of Morrison’s shea butter (£2.99) – it’s wonderful for feet.

When the work is finished on the house, I can get back to crafting. I’ve hidden it all away for now, dust and paint splashes are NOT going to ruin my work.

A big mess

Well, it WAS. I’ve been cleaning up.

We’ve had a plasterer in for a couple of days, the whole house suffered the dust. But the walls look great now, just waiting for them to dry out then we can paint.

My skin has suffered too, the dust has sucked all the moisture out of it. I’m back on the Frugal Frump challenge today. It was a bit difficult to do when the plasterer wants to get into the bathroom to work, lol. I’m fully dust-free, clean and moisturised. Healthy food makes a huge difference to your skin, so I’ll be eating out of the garden a lot. Here’s what we picked yesterday -

Beetroot, carrots, broad beans, peas and italian beans (can’t remember the proper name for them!). There’s eight courgettes too but I forgot to add them to the pic.

Yesterday, I found THIS conversation on MoneySavingExpert. I read the whole thing, and today I’m going to go back through it and pick out the bits that suit me. I’ve already tried a couple of the tips and I’m feeling quite relaxed and ready for anything. I feel in control for the first time in months.

Cleo has laid her first egg, and it’s a lovely pastel green.

As you can see, I’m still not very good with this camera. I miss my old one.
