Poorly hen

Poor little Daisy Hen has had an infection in her mouth.  The vet thinks she’s tried to eat something sharp (a thorn, maybe) and it’s scratched her.  She been to the vet four times, is on her third course of antibiotics and second course of painkillers.  We have to clean her mouth out twice a day – not a job for the squeamish.  I thought we were getting nowhere – although she’s been getting stronger, the infection didn’t seem to be clearing – but the last couple of days have been better.  Hopefully it’ll be cleared up very soon.

We’ve been picking broad beans, raspberries and peas for a couple of weeks, yesterday the first lot of tomatoes were picked – yay!  Total homegrown so far this year – 16 ¼ lb
