In The Greenhouses

There’s not much in them at the moment, just broad beans, empty pots, small gardening tools and lots of old tatty wool (for tying up the plants).

It’s not quite time to plant beans outside, but they’re growing quickly so I had to repot them. They protested a bit, a few of them drooped in their new homes and I thought they might die off. But after a couple of days, they sprang back up and look strong and healthy now

I’ve made good use of those coffee cups, the tomatoes and beans seem happy in them (this counts as greenhouse news because they will make their way in there eventually!)

I was doing a bit of last-minute tidying yesterday, I had to slow down and be careful. I spotted this frog, he was very brave – as I was moving pots around he came over to investigate. I tried to shoo him to the other side of the greenhouse but he wouldn’t stay there, he kept hopping back 😀

Ooooh, lovely, and a reminder that I must plant my beans. I love this time of year – watching tiny seedlings grow (and before I neglect them and they get all scraggly and ugly). Your frog is beautiful. We had a couple of frogs take up residence in our tomato grow-bags last year – they were surprisingly sociable and tolerant of being watered and prodded by toddlers.

We usually freeze most of our beans, I love them in stews in winter. I got a bit carried away this year and have far too many plants, I’ll probably have to give some away.

We had a pond for a few years, every spring there was lots of frogspawn. We dug the pond out and gave it to our neighbour, the frogs were confused and laid spawn on the grass where the pond used to be, lol. We took it next door to the pond, after that they always laid in their new home.

        Oh no! Poor confused frogs!
